~Matthew 28:18-20
Discipleship is at the very core of FOCUS' mission, not because it is FOCUS' model, but because it is Christ's model. Through the time He invested in the men known as His disciples, Jesus was able to leave a lasting impact on the world. His friendship with these men was not arbitrary, but purposeful and life-changing. By investing our life into students (in the same way Christ did with his disciples), we can change the world.
In Discipleship, students will be challenged to dig deeper into their spiritual life and grow in the virtues of Chastity, Sobriety and Excellence. It is within this intentional relationship that Christ taught his Disciples and so it is also the way in which we will teach our students here at Auburn.
Of course, it doesn't make the world a better place if it isn't passed on. The word's of St. Paul come into play here as he says,
Not only do we form our disciples into great Christian men and women, but we also teach them to do the same with others."and what you have heard from be before many witnesses, entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also"
~2 Timothy 2:2
